Dear Folks

We have some men here tonight that are ferrying bombers from the states to Australia and they have agreed to mail this letter for me when they get back to the states. That way it will probably reach you sooner than some of the letters I've written before this.

I imagine that you are all starting the spring work and planting there at this time.

This letter will not be censored so I can tell you that we're on Christmas Island. Note: The word "Christmas" was physically cut out of this letter by the censor!

Until we arrived there was no one here but now it is very well protected. The weather is fairly good as we have cool nights and thank goodness we don't have mosquitoes.

We rather expect to be sent on to Australia in a couple of months but we don't have any definite information as yet.

I was surely glad to get your letters telling that you had gotten back from California O.K. As I am only allowed two letters on this plane I would appreciate you telling Uncle Louis that I received his letter addressed to me at Miss. and that I certainly appreciate the Defence Bond.

I'm going to enclose a snapshot that was taken at Meridian just inside of our mess hall. I'm trying to write this letter by moonlight so please excuse cursive. We are expecting a boat in from the States sometime next week so I'm hoping for letters from you.

With Love and good luck

Leonard
