Dear Mother

Just a word to let you know I'm sending a package with a few things that I got for you on Christmas Island and on the Island of Hawaii in Honolulu.

The little purse came from Gumps Aristocratic gift shop in Honolulu. It's right across from the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The stone on the purse is jade and is quite a rare piece. The enclosed Aloha handkerchief I bought to help me express my feelings for you. They say in Hawaii that Aloha means a great many things. Including these - Hello, Goodbye, see you tomorrow but most of all it means - "I love you". The heart with the sword is a piece of Mother of Pearl that I got from Christmas Island and ground and filed down to that size. The bracelet is one that I made from stones that I found in the ocean at a point on the Island which was called the Bay of Wrecks. I strung them on the wire then put in plaster of paris to hold them. Sorry I couldn't get a gold clip to hold them together but thought perhaps you could have that done at Oelwein with the $10.00 which is enclosed in the purse.

With Love

Leonard
