Death of Stella
Fort Sheridan, Ill
Dear Uncle Louis,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Aunt Stella. I loved her like a mother and I know how much she meant to you. She, like Grandpa, will live on in my heart and I have such wonderful memories of the time that I've spent with you folks.
I am in the cooking department of the Air Corp and attached to the 12th pursuit Squadron of the 50th pursuit group and will be stationed at Meridian, Miss.
I only wish that I could be with you at this time but it is important for me to get a leave of absence from Uncle Sam.
With Love
Leonard
